MICR Line is not being recognized or not fully read
Symptom When scanning a check, the MICR line is not being recognized or part of the MICR line is not being read. Environment RealPage Payments Cause This is commonly caused by Magnetic Interference brought by a separate device seated closely to the scanner and the computer. This can also be caused by IRD checks not printed with magnetic ink  Requires Support? Yes Resolution Ensure that the scanner or the computer is at least 2 feet away from a separate device. Some examples include: Printers Coffee Makers Tablets Smart/Cell Phones Other Gadgets in general Follow these steps to determine the issue: 1. Scan a Resident Check and see if the MICR line properly recognized 2. Scan a Money Order and see if the MICR line is properly recognized 3. Run a test using Demo application. For Panini Check Scanner: Open MyDemo for VisionX.exe Click Demonstration and put a check on the scanner. Click Start. Check if the MICR line is being recognized. Repeat steps for Money Order and Resident Check If the check scanner is able to read the Resident Check and not the Money order, the issue is due to the absence of Magnetic ink. If the check scanner is unable to read both the Resident Check and the Money Order, there would be a need to clean the scanner If the scanner is not reading a specific check for a resident, you have the option to enter it manually and deposit it to the bank or request for a replacement payment or money order. 4. Install the scanner drivers: a .In OneSite, Go to Settings (Gear icon) > General property -Payments >Hardware Settings - Scanner > Scanner Install - Download Scanner driver installation packet or Go to the Navigation Menu (3 bars) > Administration > Payments -Scanner Install > Download Hardware Scanner driver installation package > Scanner Install - Download Scanner driver installation packet. b. Once you select Download Scanner driver installation packet, you will see a pop up 'Do you want to run or save PaymentsDeviceInstall.exe from realpage.com?™ c. Select Save as and save to your Desktop d. Right-click and click Run as Administrator on the PaymentsDeviceInstall.exe file. e. Follow the prompts. When you are asked to check which scanner you have, please ensure that the specific scanner model is the only box checked. f. Click Next until the program installs, then click Finish. 5. Verify the drivers are installed properly: a. Plug the device USB cable into the USB port on the computer b. Click the Start menu on the computer c. Right-click on Computer and choose Manage d. Click Device Manage on the left hand side e. Click the +sign by Universal Serial Bus Controllers f. RDM Simplicity or a variation of this should be seen here. If it is, you can proceed 8. Attempt to scan a payment: a. Go to the Navigation Menu (3 bars) > Payments. b. Click New c.
